Top ten players of the post-season – 2011 MLB Playoffs - Part 2
5. Miguel Cabrera, Detroit Tigers
Miguel Cabrera is placed fifth on the list of top ten players from the playoffs. In my opinion, Miguel Cabrera is one of the five top players currently in baseball. Cabrera continued his impressive form in the year 2011 as well and he helped Detroit Tigers
perform miracles on several occasions. It will not be wrong to say that his hitting abilities proved to be the backbone of Tiger's game play.
Reaching double figures in three major categories, he delivered the goods whenever his side wanted him to. With eleven hits, ten RBI’s and twelve walks, he finished the post season on a very high note. He also had a .489 on base percentage and a phenomenal
1.261 on base plus slugging.
6. Alexi Ogando, Texas Rangers
Alexi Ogando is another player that cannot be ignored when it comes to ranking the players from 2011 post-season in Major League Baseball. Ogando pitched with control and accuracy throughout the season and he created all sorts of problems for the hitters
from opposition teams. The 2011 season proved that good pitching can beat good hitting and vice versa. The flame throwing right hander from Texas was the most impressive of all the pitchers as he led his team to victory on a number of occasions.
Ogando is also one of the only 18 pitchers who managed to reach double digits in innings pitched. Out of 18, only four had ERA under three; Yovani Gallardo, Roy Halladay, Matt Moore and Alexi Ogando. With 12 strike-outs and an incredible .58 WHIP and 2-0
with four holds, Ogando is placed number six on the list of top ten performers.
7. Yovani Gallardo, Milwaukee Brewers
Yovani Gallardo was one of the only two aces, who stayed true to their form during the regular season, the other ace being Roy Halladay, who managed 2.25 ERA and .69 WHIP in 16 innings at play.
In terms of playoff innings pitched, Gallardo is only second to Justin Verlander who had a poor 5.31 ERA as compared 2.84 achieved by Gallardo. His ability to deliver the goods under pressure earned him the reputation of being a tough minded battler.
8. Mike Napoli, Texas Rangers
This lively and entertaining baseball player was one of the hottest hitters throughout the second half of the regular season and he continued to give mind boggling performances in the post-season as well.

Going  into the World Series, Napoli averaged .316 with  the bat, and his 12 hits put him in the top six.
He hit a crucial homer off David Price in the American League Divisional Series and he also provided a pair of balance-transfer defensive plays in Game 4 of American League Championships.
9. Christopher Carpenter, St Louis Cardinals
Christopher Carpenter gave some impressive results during the post-season. With two wins, 3.71 ERA and 1.18 WHIP in 17 innings, he was certainly the leader of the pack. However, his most impressive achievement was recorded in Game 5 of NLDS, when he turned
the performance of his lifetime against a very strong opposition, the Philadelphia Phillies. Allowing only three hits in an elimination game, he threw the only complete game of the 2011 playoffs.
10. Matt Moore, Tampa Bay Rays
Matt Moore had played in only one Major League game before he was asked to pitch the opener. The rookie left handed pitched with control and accuracy and if he can stay healthy, he has a great chance of topping the list of top ten starters in the American
League.
