Top ten women players on the International Table Tennis Federation June Ranking - Part 2
The Number four seed on the ITTF ranking is occupied by 24-year-old Chinese player Guo Yue. She experienced some trouble with the game due to some major defeats on the international table tennis circuit in 2005. She made recovery soon and featured in the
Asian Games held at Doha in 2006 and won all of the Women's titles including the Singles, Doubles and the Team event.
Her playing partner in the Chinese national team is Niu Jianfeng, but on the international level she is playing with Li Xiaoxia. In 2011, Yue has been very active in the ITTF Pro tour circuit. She appeared in a total of six ITTF Pro Tours starting from the
Slovenian Open and the last Polish Open.
Yue was not able to perform well in the Singles category but she won all six Doubles titles. She joined forces with Guo Yan, Xiaoxia and Li Xiaodan. Yue is the best Doubles player in the international ITTF circuit and she has proved it with the titles she
has won this year.
In the World Championship, Yue was defeated in the semi-finals by Xiaoxia in straight games with a score-line of 11-5, 11-6, 11-7, 11-8.
On the Number five seed there is Liu Shiwen from China. She first appeared on the ITTF Women's ranking in 2004 at the 95th seed and reached the top of the rankings in January 2010 and remained on the top until September 2010. This year she has
not won any title at the ITTF Pro Tour circuit. The 20-year-old player has won the World Cup Women’s Singles title in 2009.
In the recent World Championship, Shiwen lost the semi-finals against Ding Ning in a match of six games with a score-line of 11-13, 11-9, 8-11, 11-6, 11-8, 11-6.
On the sixth rank on the ITTF Women's ranking is Feng Tianwei from Singapore. She was born in China but she moved to Singapore and appeared on the international table tennis circuit as a Singaporean payer in 2007. She represented Singapore for the first
time in the 2008 Olympics held at Beijing, China.
Feng along with her team-mates Li Jiawei and Wang Yuegu reached the finals of the Women’s Team event but lost against China in the final hurdle. She joined forces with Wang and Sun Beibei to win the title of the Liebherr World Team Table Tennis Championships
held at Moscow in 2010 and brought home the world title for Singapore for the first time.
Tianwei appeared on the ITTF World ranking in 2004 for the first time on the 101st position. She reached the second seed in 2010, but she never reached the top of the rankings.
In the recent World Championship, Tianwei hopes to reach the finals was shattered by Ning in the quarter-final stage. Ning was the eventual winner of the title and she took down Feng in straight games with a score-line of 11-3, 11-5, 11-6, 11-4.
In the ITTF Pro tours this year she has not been able to perform well due to which she has not won any major title this year. Feng’s last good performance was in the ITTF Pro Tour Grand Finals held at Seoul, South Korea. She won the gold in the championship,
this year she is looking for a major victory.
