Top ten women players on the International Table Tennis Federation June Ranking - Part 3
The Number seven seed on the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) is occupied by a Chinese player Wu Yang. She made an impressive start in the beginning of this year and won the first ITTF Pro Tour of the Slovenian Open. She defeated the Number one
seeded player Li Xiaoxia in a close match with a score-line of 9-11, 11-8, 12-14, 11-8, 8-11, 11-7, 8-11. She also won the last Polish Open. Yang first appeared on the ITTF Women's ranking in 2005 at the 612th seed. She won the first major title
in her playing career in 2009 at the World Junior Table Tennis Championship.
Currently Yang is holding the best rank of her playing career. In the World Championships held at Rotterdam earlier this year she was defeated by her compatriot the current Number one player Xiaoxia in the quarter-finals in five games with a score-line 11-7,
11-5, 10-12, 11-8, and 11-6. The young player is hoping for a bright table tennis playing career in the future.
The Number eight rank on the ITTF Women's ranking is held by Ishikawa Kasumi from Japan. She is the Number one player in Japan. Ishikawa won the Japan Junior Table Tennis Championship four times in a row. She first appeared on the ITTF World Ranking in 2006
at the 420th position. Currently Ishikawa is on the best ranking in her playing career at the international level in the senior ranking.
In the last World Championships, Ishikawa was defeated by the eventual champion of the event, Ding Ning in the Women's Singles round of-16 with a match score of 11-4, 11-6, 11-13, 11-3,11-2.
The Number nine seed is also occupied by a Japanese player, Fukuhara Ai. She was born in Sendai a city of Japan that was completely washed away in March due the earth-quake and resulting tsunami. Fukuhara was at that time in China preparing for the Volkswagen
Cup. The 22-year old player was shattered on her return back home due to the devastation her country faced during the natural disaster. She donated the amount of money she won in the Volkswagen Cup for the support of the people in Sendai.
She first appeared on the ITTF ranking in 2001 at the 255th seed. She never made it to the top three of the rankings. The best she has achieved till now is eighth place on the ranking.
Fukuhara was the youngest player to represent Japan at the Asian Games in 2002. In the last World Championship she was defeated by China’s Fan Ying in the round-of-32 Women's Singles in a match of five games with a score-line of 11-8, 7-11, 10-12, 8-11,7-11.
The 10th position on the ITTF Women's Singles ranking is occupied by South Korean player Kim Kyung Ah with 2598 points. She has not won any major title in her playing career so far. The best she has achieved is a bronze medal in the 2004 Athens
Olympics. She first appeared on the ITTF Women's ranking in 2001 at the 46th seed. Kyung Ah never made to the top three players of the international women's playing circuit.
In the World Championships held earlier this month she was defeated in the round-of-32 by Viktoria Pavlovich in a close match. The match extended to a full seven games and the Belarusian player Viktoria won the last decider game and proceeded to the next
round.
The presence of six Chinese players on the top 10 is clear proof of their extraordinary playing skills.
