Question:

Top things that bother you about boxing?

1. Inactivity of top fighters: I would have rather seen Hopkins fight 6-7 times a year during his prime, than 1-2 times into his 40's;

2. Milking of top names at the expense of the sport - after a guy is established there should be no more "showcase" fights;

3. Win/Loss records being weighed far too much in rankings - rankings should be performanced based, period.

4. Greed keeping fights of network tv - its in every fighters best interest for boxing to be more popular, put good fights and name fighters on channels everyone can see, and everyone wins.

  1. Actually, you have a very good list and it's one that I highly agree with. Besides that, I hate terrible judging and the fact there are seemingly six different champions in each division.

  2. Out of your list? Definitly 4!

  3. what bothers me about boxing is when a fighter clearly won and the judges take that away from him b/c of a bias they have for the other contender. It is truly wrong to rob someone of their payday just to keep the crowd happy

  4. The bad scoring is what bothers me the most

  5. The current status of boxing is being ruined by corrupt officials, ratings, Bob Arum, Don King, WBA, WBC, IBF with their so called sanctioning fees to acknowledge title fights and stripping the titles from legitimate fighters because of their individual organizational greed.

  6. some bad scoring

    promoters keeping two top fighters in the same division from fighting, if they are both under the same promotional banner

    tv networks keeping two top fighters from getting it on because they are contracted to seperate networks and neither will budge to allow the other the rights

    to many "older" guys still fighting

    too much bad attitude....guys influncing kids by smoking in the ring after a fight, saying really discusting things to an opponent etc

  7. 1. when my favorite fighter loses.... that c**p really bothers me

    2A.  Scoring of fights ..... if the Promoters are going to get special ed poeple as judges at least get the smart retards...too many times have we seen horrible decisions and in most of those cases i put about a hundred dollar bet on the loser , so is even worse to accept ...case in point Casamayor v Santa Cruz,  Marquez v Pacquiao 1 & 2 , Castillio v Mayweather 1 and Delahoya v Trinidad

    2B.  Scoring of Rounds....tired of seeing a fighter given a round because he didnt get hit as much or threw 3 more punches than the last round... the Judges are like baseball umpires with a 3 and 0 count and if the next pitch is anywhere close to the plate they call it for the other guy....

    3. Crazy filipinos who finally get a champion and say all kinds of ridiculous things like "why do filipinas kick Mexicans butt".... is too funny but remember guys there is only 1 Pacman and he will not jump in when i pound you.... get about 200 more champions and then you can compare filipinos to Mexican fighters, but just one is not enough

    4. Fighters claiming to be the best but not willing to fight the Top Dogs... by fighting over the hill guys with names or guys who got a ranking right before your match is not impressing me, so be a man and knuckle up against someone you are not favored to KO ....i dont want to mention any names but they start with Cotto, Mayweather(not sure if he would lose anyway but s***w him), Pacquiao, and Calzaghe...

    5. Waiting 3 years to see a great matchup because both fighters are scared of losing ...as much as i hate the UFC f**s, at least they get it right in putting the best against eachother

    6. And last ......not enough breast or L*****n action for my taste.... just one time in between rounds they should get the Ring Girls to have a topless jello or pudding match .... to win the ring girl has to unclothe the other .....sweet

  8. What bothers me is the 12 "world" titles that are avalible

    ONE world champion please per weight devision!!!

  9. 100% agreed

  10. Yahoo Boxing---Blogbabble Is What Bothers Me

    I Have A Funny Blogbabble Story. I Was In A Pub In England During Halloween. Blogbabble Comes In With James Earl Jones Or Forrest Whitaker I Don't Know Which It Doesn't Matter For The Meat Of The Story. Well Blogbabble Was Dressed As James Or Forrest's Left Nut. Everyone Was Looking At This Raisin Like Thing And I Finally Just Said It's Just Blogbabble. He Is A Little Testy

  11. the politics of scoring.  When a guy fights his butt off and gets jobbed because he's not the money maker, that just bothers me to no end, because even the greatest fighters only have a few brilliant performances in him.  Whitaker-De La Hoya, Whitaker-Chavez and Whitaker-Ramirez are 3 fights that really stick in my craw.  Those 3 fights kept Pernell from the pantheon of the all time greats, and through no fault of his own. All he did was fight well, but his crime was that he didn't knock people out.

    Accidental cuts.  Why are accidentally cut figthers forced back into the fight?  Hurt fighters from crotch shots are allowed 5 minutes to recover.  Why can't a cut fighter have 5 minutes to get his wounds closed?

    12 rounds.  An odd number of rounds makes for fewer draws.  13 rounds would be nice.

    Intentional spitting the mouthpiece to buy extra time after a knockdown.  That's a bigger travesty than any long count controversy.  The same with a hurt fighter intentionally hitting low, like Trinidad against Vargas and Cotto against Corley.  Should be an automatic DQ.

    Max Kellerman and Burt Sugar.  Just because you have a goatee or a hat and cigar, it doesn't make you an expert.
