Top three Turf Performers of this season
This year has been full of thrills, upsets, records, feats and retirements for horseracing. Many records have been set and many broken. Trotting through the stats of this season, we find three ace names who have achieved three top slots in the ranking of
Turf races. These are Frankel, Cirrus Des Aigles and Excelebration.
All three are stars, but Frankel is the superstar who has hanged his boots after setting a glorious record of 14 consecutive victories.
Since the outset of the season till his retirement, he grabbed five epic triumphs. Starting with the title of JLT Lockinge Stakes of May 19, he won Queen Anne Stakes during the Royal Ascot festival of June.
The Sir Henry Cecil trained bay colt moved ahead to win Qipco Sussex Stakes on August 1. He accomplished the grand title of the Juddmonte International Stakes on August 22, and finally called it a day by winning the Qipco Champion Stakes on October 20.
Interesting to note is the fact that Frankel had been the hot favourite candidate from beginning to the end of his prestigious career. Every time, he ran under Tom Queally.
On the other hand, Cirrus Des Aigles has accomplished three classy conquests since the dawn of the calendar year. The Mme C. Barande-Barbe trained bay gelding nicely won Dubai Sheema Classic Presented By Longines on March 31 and moved ahead to seal the title
of Prix Ganay on April 29.
His third victory came on October 6 when he brought home the title of Qatar Prix Dollar. All three were impressive performances that helped him gain second rank in Turf racing.
The third top Turf performer is Excelebration who has also achieved three triumphs in this season. On April 22, the A. P. O'Brien trained bay colt won Big Bad Bob Gladness Stakes.
After finishing first in Prix du Haras de Fresnay-le-Buffard - Jacques le Marois of August 12, he marvellously notched up top spot in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes Sponsored By Qipco on October 20.
Each one of these three runners has given some exciting and thrilling events to their fans to enjoy. Unfortunately, Frankel will no more be here in future. Let us see what the other two will achieve.
