if i dont hold on tight enough would i fall on the top

ive never rode on those kinds of roller coasters

and do i have to hang on tight and what is their to hold on

on the ride

Actually you don't really have to hold on, but I understand!

If you're concerned about the restrain itself, there is this very large (and comfy) lap-cushion (the big yellow things in the picture). It literally pins you into the cars. You cannot move from the waist down! And, as a redundant restraining mechanism, there is also a seat belt.

We never hang on!

Never broke anything either.

You do want to put your head against the head rest though. The Take-off is fast!

yes, you have to hold on. there was a kid who was talking with his mom who was next to him, & they were waiting for the ride to start, & the kid's arm flew back when it started and his arm broke! so ya, you have to hold on to the sides!
