Torbjorn Tornqvist’s Artemis Racing put up a consistent sail on Day 2 of 2011 Adris RC44 Cup
Despite a tough forecast due to the Croatian mistral, Artemis Racing still managed to finish second after a convincing sail on Day 2 of the 2011 Adris RC44 Cup at Rovinj. Skipper Torbjorn Tornqvist’s Swedish RC44 boat displayed a superb performance in the
first three races winning the second but somehow they could not maintain their good streak in the fourth and crossed the finish line at tenth position.
The RC44 fleet had to face some troublesome weather conditions due to the famous Croatian North Western Thermal Mistral, which usually gusts around 25 knots but on the second day of the event it blew over the racing area up to 12 knots. Leader board, Great
Britain’s Team Aqua finished fourth overall because of the wind forecast.
However, America’s Oracle Racing headed up to the top mark and finished in style in the first and third race. They are now on top podium spot with 16 points while Artemis Racing is on second position with 16 points followed by Spanish Islas Canarias Puerto
Calero on third with 17 points. Tornqvist believes their performance so far has been quite consistent and up to standards.
While speaking to local media at the conclusion of Day 2, Tornqvist said, “We had very good day, in particular the first three races everything went our way, the last race it was lighter winds and it was difficult, we chose the wrong side of the course and
the result wasn’t that good but overall a great day.”
He further added, “This is the first day of four and tomorrow could be completely different, we’ve seen it before. Aqua is a great team and they always come back, they won the last race of the day which shows how good they are.”
