Torii Hunter and Mark Trumbo dominate Los Angeles Angels 7-2 win over Seattle Mariners – MLB Update
Torii Hunter and Mark Trumbo joined hands to take the Los Angeles Angels over the Seattle Mariners 7-2 at Angel Stadium of Anaheim on Monday, September 5.
Hunter started the game with his valuable triple to deep centre-field, scoring Peter Bourjos the game tier run in the bottom of the first inning. With Hunter on third base, Mark Trumbo landed at the plate and hammered a 409-feet long homer to left-centre
for two runs. The Angels acquired 3-1 lead to set their journey off to a strong start.
Then in the third inning the Mariners shortened the lead to 3-1, as Angels’ Henley Kendrick drove to third baseman Kyle Seager, who made an error allowing Mark Izturis to score and pushing Bourjos to steal third base. Hunter entered the plate to take advantage
of the occupied third base, hitting a sacrifice fly to centre-field. Kendrick was on third base, when Mark Trumbo occupied the plate and doubled to deep right to get another RBI to lift the lead to 6-2.
Angels’ starter Dan Haren struggled hard to keep his pitching line. He threw 109 pitches on six innings and allowed three runs on ten hits. He also made three strike-outs to get his 14th win of the season. His third run came off the home-run launched
by Mariners’ Brandon Ryan.
Relief pitcher Bobby Cassevah took over the responsibility after Haren recorded a solid win. Bobby threw fastballs to take two batters over his nine pitches long inning. Hisanori Takahashi gave away only one hit and struck-out one batter during his two innings
to record the Angels’ 77th win of the season.
Mariners’ starter Anthony Vasquez had a bad outing as he allowed two home-runs and seven runs over six hits. His five innings proved bad for his club. He lost his second outing and his record dropped to 1-2 with an extremely high 10.80 ERA. It was only the
third start for the 24-year-old Texan.
Although relief pitcher Shawn Kelley and Cesar Jimenez worked scoreless inning in the later half of the game, they could not fix the damage that Vasquez had received. Mariners have lost their 82nd outing of the season. Mariners are among the teams
with the most loses in the season.
