Torn Achilles tendon: Cleveland Browns LB Chris Gocong may well be out for full season – NFL News
Cleveland Browns’ ill-fated linebacker Chris Gocong is expected to have a surgery this week to repair the Achilles tendon he tore during practice on the past weekend, which will determine the gravity of the injury but he appears to be well on the course
of sitting the entire season out on the sidelines nursing the injury.
Chris was taken on the sidelines while being in severe pain after suffering the injury, which was not taken as serious as the Achilles tendon by the team initially, but later scans results confirmed it was so, and there was a unanimous view since then that
the player might be out of the side for the rest of the season.
Coach Pat Shurmur said:
"It's an Achilles for Gocong, so he'll have surgery. There's no point in trying to conceal anything. It's an Achilles."
Pat’s main concern reflective in his remarks is that the injuries like Achilles tendon take a longer time for healing and rehab. Also, the recovery process is associated to some risks and setbacks, which prove to be the main hurdles in the way of timely
return of the players to action.
The linebacker was injured during the practice almost halfway through but in spite of the severity of pain the Browns did not anticipate the problem could be as serious as it was.
His teammate linebacker D'Qwell Jackson said:
"It looked serious. It always does when a guy doesn't get up. You hate to see that. He plays a major role."
It is the first real setback the Browns have suffered at training camp, and must be hoping to maintain a healthy and fit squad at the rest of positions during remaining time of the camp.
Since the Browns have recently changed the ownership hands and if the new owner Jimmy Haslam III opts for any rash changes in the team, Chris may well be out of the team permanently.
At the moment, however, he remains focused to get the medical procedure done on the injury, leaving rest of the worries for the phase of recovery and rehab. He will certainly have a plenty of time to ponder about his future.
