Tornado Alley?

Okay, I live in tornado alley and find it ridiculous that most homes and businesses such as hotels/motels do not have any type of "shelters" in the event of a tornado. With all these tornadoes that we have been having lately I am scared to death. I have lived here my whole life but since becoming a wife and mother I worry about my familys fate. It is only my husband, 2 year old daughter and I. Due to my husbands job we are staying at a hotel that does not have any shelter. We do however stay on the first floor but I feel so lost and helpless without shelter.

Anyway, we were told that if a tornadoe come that we are suppose to leave our room and go into the hallway. I do not like their "Safety theroy" I would rather go into the bathroom and get into the bathtub and put a blankets and a mattress over us. Which is safer, the bathroom or out in the hallway?

Thanks a lot.

  1. That is generally the Mississippi Valley and adjacent states.  Weather is hot and humid due to the Gulf of Mexico in the gulf states and Mississippi River to others...You must have heat an moisture combining to cause lifting, which makes cloud, rain and more severe weather.

Yes those saftey precautions are very wise. We had storm cellars in Texas.

  2. You should be angry with the Bush Administration

Its their fault for the tornado's!

    G-L-O-B-A-L     W-A-R-M-I-N-G

  3. either is okay, but if the hallway in on the inside of the building and the bathroom is on the outside(on an outer wall, the hallway is safer.

I wouldn´t worry so much, it is unlikely the tornado will hit you.

  4. If you are on the first floor then the bathroom would be the best bet because the floors overtop of you could collasp therfore sending a lot of debre down which is not safe so going to a safe structure (bathtub) is better because it is attached to the floor so even of tornado does hit you would be more safe because it less likely it will collasp and with the blankets and matresses you would be less wounded by the stuff flying from overhead.
