  1. Warm, moist air from the Gulf Of Mexico combined with dry air from the south and cold air from the north. These ingredients combined in a mesocyclone (which would be in a supercell) that instead of spining horizontally,spin vertically create a funnel cloud, and when these touch down, they are then offically a tornado. Basically a tornado needs:

    1. Lift-rising air

    2. Instability-mixing of moist and dry, cold and warm air

    3. Moisture-to produce the cloud

    4. Wind Shear-the changing of direction or spped of wind as you goup in the atmosphere
