Tornado in my area?

I've never seen Tornado before. Is tornado warning means that it is 100% is going to happen in my area? Or what?

No, it just means to be alert. Make sure you're prepared w/ flashlights in case the lights go out, and make sure you & ur family know a safe spot to hide in. Stay OFF the computer and keep watching the NEWS. Don't panic, it's just a warning so that you'll know that there actually is one around. God Bless!

It means that a tornado has been seen - possibly on radar.  It means get into a safe place.  Don't wait.  It may not hit you but if it does, it'll be bad.  A watch means that the weather could produce a tornado, so have your plan all throught out.

When a tornado warning is issued be prepared. When your town or cities siren goes off, Go immediatly to your basement or outdoor shelter. Don't dawdle. Your house could be totally destroyed in 5 seconds.

When a cloud breaks through the cap, with lots of humidity, it's called a tornado "WATCH" That means conditions are favorable for tornado formations.

but to answer your question- no, it just means you should be aware of it

we had a tornado warning here in colorado yesterday, and its not like every house got torn apart! lol

be careful though, and make sure you have somewhere safe to go just in case

my suggestions would be: somewhere without windows, such as a basement

I'm sorry a warning means it is happening. Hang in there. That would scare the living $#@$ outta me. Go in a basement or a place without windows and get off your PC! Hop everthing is ok.

no it just means that there is a chance that it will happen !!! just watch the news and if the area you live in is green then you r just going to get some bad weather and need to stay in but if its in the red then there is a huge chance you will get the tornado and u need to go in a small area in your house that has no windows and duck down !!!!!

A tornado warning means that weather conditions right for tornadoes to form (hot moist air trapped below cold dry air, and the hot/moist air breaks through the "cap").

On radar, they can see the wind patterns (doppler radar), and can see 'rotation'.  That doesn't mean a tornado has touched down.

They send out trained spotters.  Sometimes they make mistakes and have false postivies, but better to err on the side of caution.  Radar isn't 100% perfect, so spotters sometimes see something that radar has not picked up on (particularly if it is a "blind spot" where ground clutter obscures it).

They will announce, on the news, anything they see on radar, anything spotters see, etc.  Best to stay tuned to local TV channels and be prepared to head for shelter.
