Question:

Tornado safe rooms?

Has anyone ever "weathered" no pun intended, a tornado in one of the newer safe rooms that are commercially availible (some made of kevlar) or seen pictures of one and a structure after an actual tornado? I'm thinking Greensburg, surely in that storm sombody had to have a saferoom because only 11 people out of 1500 died, those are pretty good odds.

  1. Technology is now advancing to the point, where people can even survive a hurricane though regardless of the structure,  you should evacuate.

  2. the safest room to be in during a tornado storm is room underdground surrounded by concrete or some hard material. A basement or cellar area.

  3. 10 pages of images do not show a single safe room that actually weathered a real tornado.  Coming from the Midwest, above-ground tornado shelters leave me queasy.  A well constructed storm cellar, preferably with two exits and accessible from your basement, still seems the safest.
