  1. Haha... I guess I could see where you're coming from with that. Some water spouts are non-tornadic and don't form from a supercell. They rate less than F0 and have winds at about 40 mph or less... so I guess they aren't too bad. However, sometimes actual tornadoes do form from a supercell over water, creating a tornadic water spout, which can rate 1-5 on the Fujita scale and have extremely destructive winds. This also goes for a tornado on land that moves over a body of water. So watch out for those ones!


  2. If you took a huge waterspout and put it over a giant pool and you could swim up to it while your fighting the waves it creates, that would be cool.

    Unfortunately no one really knows what happens directly under a waterspout, they do generate waves though and can be dangerous but it also can be accompanied by lightning near water.
