  1. There are rarely big tornados in WV because of the mountains - they are usually stopped before they get too far.  But they can form and do some damage in the more open areas.

  2. It has happened before, but they don't always, the mountain present a solid obstace and so the tornado may lose the majority of its power because of the mountain.

  3. Yikes! Be careful! They hospitalized 90 people and 13 were killed in my hometown last night!

I hope you have a basement!

I will say a prayer for you and your family.

  4. We have a tornado warning too=[

    Columbus, OH

    im so freaked out.

theres no mountains here.. you are lucky if that stops a tornado

  5. Yes they can....though it is rare.  Here in upstate NY (in 1996) we had tornadoes go through our area.

Sorry, for some reason Yahoo is not letting me post the link to the National Weather service. Look up Tornado Safety to find out what you should do to be prepared.

  6. Usually mountains have an adverse effect on them but they have been known to skip over mountains.  It can happen.
