Tornados and windows?

is it true that when theres a tornado near you should have a window open. just one all what. cuz i heard you should have one open but then i heard not because the pressure coming in the one could shatter all the others

  1. Not at all. First; You should be in your basement when there is a tornado by you. Second; Even in a thunderstorm you should stay away from all the windows. With a tornado, it is more important because of the flying debris. I don't think you need to worry about the window open though even if it were true. If the tornado was that close, the debris or wind would have shattered it already.


  2. That is false.  A house will not explode because of the pressure difference.  The house will fall down because of the 150 mph wind.  If anything, it is more dangerous to have the window open because more debris can fly in.  

    The fact is, you will waste valuable time opening windows that you could be using to get to shelter.
