Toro Rosso STR6 to hit the track on 1st of Feb’ 2011
Toro Rosso has finally announced the launch date of its new car, the STR6, which will be sliding on the track on February 1, 2011. The first pre-season testing for next year is scheduled to take place at the same date at the Ricardo Tormo circuit, Valencia,
where the car will also be launched.
As per the initial reports, the team has decided to unveil its car in the pit lane at the Spanish venue before action starts on the track. Although the tests are not compulsory, yet the first test is expected to feature all the 12 teams that will be showing
up in the 2011 calendar. This means that the next year’s cars of all the teams will be ready to ramp on the track by then.
Although the 2010 season has been longer than many of the other seasons owing to the maximum number of races ever held in the sport’s history, yet all the teams are expected to complete the work within time. This year has seen 19 Grand prix, while 18 rounds
were held last year. Prior to this every season used to host only 16 races. The Formula One supremo’, Bernie Ecclestone, in the last few years, has taken the sport to several new parts of the world following his agenda of globalising the sport.
Moreover, 2010 also saw a very tough tug between the teams until the very last round of the season. One after the other races, the tracks kept unfolding drama and thrill, and hence both, the drivers’ as well as the constructors’ title remained undecided
up till the end of the season. Due to this, many of the teams kept upgrading their 2010 car throughout the season, bringing something new at every other round. Despite of all this, it is remarkable to see that all the teams have been able to give the required
time and resources to the next cars, although the competitiveness will be decided only when these are out on the track.
However, despite of having announced the launch date of its car, Toro Rosso has yet not declared the final drivers’ line-up for the upcoming season. As per the 2011 entry list given by FIA earlier this month, the team drivers are yet to be finalised, although
at many occasions the team management has announced to retain Sebastian Buemi and Jaime Alguersuari for another season.
