Toro Rosso Sticks With The Same Drivers For The Upcoming Season
The Austrian Formula One Team Toro Rosso announced this Thursday that the team is pleased to continue with their current drivers for the upcoming season as well. The team currently has a Spaniard racer Jaime Alguersuari and the other is a Swiss driver Sebastien Buemi.
The team is quite hopeful from the twenty one year-old racer, Buemi that he would be able to perform well in the upcoming season. The team boss, Franz Tost said that both ted drivers are well prepared for the 2011 season and he has a firm belief on both the drivers’ skills. He mentioned that the major role of the Scuderia Toro Rosso is to further promote the young drivers’ programme conducted by Red Bull. He also said that the team aims to bring young talent in racing on the main stream and it is very logical to further encourage and support both the team drivers who certainly meet the criteria to stay further in the team. Sebastien Buemi is currently twenty one year old whereas teammate Jaime Alguersuari is still at the age of twenty.
This season so far had been a mediocre for the team as they had neither given any exceptionally brilliant performances nor they had been drastically bad. At the present the team stands at ninth place in the Constructors’ Championship, one place behind Suber Team. It had been able to bag a total of ten points all through the first half of the season.
Scuderia Toro Rosso, the Italian name meaning “Team Red Bull” is another team owned by beverage company Red Bull. The other team owned by them is the leading Formula One team, Red Bull Racing. The Italian based team had its debut season with Formula One in the Year 2006 which went well for them.   However, the next year did not bring much luck to the team as they had a poor start with thirteen retirements for the team in just first ten Grands Prix. Nevertheless, the year 2008 proved better for the team as it was able to cherish some great moments when Sebastian Vettel entered the team. He was able to claim the maiden pole as well as victory for the team at the Italian Grand Prix.
Then again, the next year saw the team’s performance fading away as Vettel left the team and the team continued with the drivers with both Sebastian Bourdais and Sebastian Buemi, who both kept struggling but had little luck all through the season. After the ninth race of the season Bourdais was replaced by the 19 year-old Spaniard Jaime Alguersuari, who is still with the team and is to stay for the upcoming season as well. Overall, the 2009 season went disastrous for them as it ended at the last slot in the Constructors’ standings.
This year the team had been able to do better than previous year as they have finally made their place in the top ten positions though they started off with earning just two points in the first four races of the season.
Currently, Sebastien Buemi stands at fourteenth place in the Drivers’ Standing with seven points bagged whereas the other driver, Alguersuari had been able to grab only three points so far.
The team has made slow but steady improvement in the past few years and seem hopeful to be progressing considerably in the upcoming years as well. The team had risen from ending at the bottom of the charts last year to being at ninth at present, with seeing this improvement one can hope to see them doing better in the next half of the season as well as in the forthcoming season.
