Toro Rosso boss Tost says Buemi’s future in danger after Alguersuari’s performance – Formula 1 news
Toro Rosso boss Franz Tost has said that the team driver Sebastien Buemi’s future is in danger after two strong races of 2011 Formula 1 season by his teammate Jaime Alguersuari.
Alguersuari made impressive runs at both the Canada and the recently held European Grand Prix. Meanwhile, his teammate Buemi was unable to score points at the Valencia Street Circuit and finished his race at the 13th place.
Recently, there were rumours about Alguersuari that he will soon lose his race seat during this season, as he could not take a positive start for the team in the ongoing season. In addition, the team was looking to give a chance to Australian driver Daniel
Ricciardo for the remainder of the season’s races.
However, Alguersuari made much progress in his performance during the Canada and European race weekends. He finished his race in eighth spots in both races.
The team boss, Tost added about Alguersuari that he has secured his future with his current team by securing impressive results for them.
He talked about Buemi and said that his future is looking risky, as he has not made his best run on the grid in the season so far.
Former Ferrari test driver Marc Gene discussed the Spaniard’s performance in ongoing season and said, “Previously his big problem was understanding the behaviour of the tyres, but his pace is now impressive. Valencia was a super result when he needed it
the most.”
Apart from that, the 21-year-old driver shared his aim with the media and said, “My goal is to finish races, score points and be ahead of my team-mate.”
After a good performance of Alguersuari in the previous two races, the team is expecting a very close finish by their driver to the current competitors.
Toro Rosso admitted that their driver is moving in the right direction for them. In addition, he said that he will have to score more points for the team in the upcoming British Grand Prix, which is scheduled to be held on July 10, 2011 at the Silverstone
racetrack.
