After widespread rumours that Toro Rosso might sign its third driver Daniel Ricciardo as their full time driver for 2011, Sebastian Buemi was expected to be the most likely out of the two Toro Rosso drivers to be replaced by the Australian.
The team was unable to achieve the pace their brother team Red Bull Racing team achieved this year as they won both the constructors’ and drivers’ titles. Although Toro Rosso was introduced to the sport 5 years back, they have not been able to progress in
the way that Red Bull has in just 6 years.
The team currently consists of Jaime Alguersuari and Sebastian Buemi and the team recently confirmed that their drivers’ list for 2011 will stay the same. It is a good decision as teams that are running at the back of the grid usually require drivers that
are committed and are willing to work with and for the team.
Ricciardo on the other hand will stay as their reserve driver for 2011 and since the team vows to improve its pace and try its best to give the best performance that they have given until now, it seems that Sebastian and Jaime are going to have to work overtime
with the team in order to achieve the results they are hoping to achieve in next season.
Since Team Red Bull won the 2011 championship, Toro Rosso is under more pressure now and the team must secure some good results in order to keep its spot on the Formula 1 grid.
It seems that Toro Rosso is developing with due time and both of their drivers are working very well together. Recently, after some widespread rumours that Sebastian’s seat might be under threat, Jaime Alguersuari came to his team-mate’s aid and backed him
up saying that Buemi is a much better driver than Riccardio any day of the week.
Nevertheless, it would be interesting to see the team’s pace next year and how the two drivers drive in 2011.
