Toro Rosso decides to introduce some upgrades in Monaco race: Formula 1 Update
Toro Rosso's team has set a plan to introduce its first major update in its new car, in the Monaco race. The team also updated the media with the fact that they are happy with their race-pace and qualifying round runs, which they had in the first three events
of 2011 season, held in Australia, Malaysia and China.
Toro Rosso’s drivers are optimistic, as they feel lucky to have competitive platform to fight with Sauber, Force India and Williams in previous races of this season.
The Italian-based team’s new 'STR6' car has delivered a supportive step forward to its success, so the team decided to deliver more developments in machine for more points of the team.
The team's engineer, Laurent Mekies, said, "We have planned major steps for car development during the year that have been established since before the start of the season. At some point pre-season, you have to sign off the car to go into production to be
built and maybe you have a good idea for a component the next day, so these are the building blocks for your next development update.”
He went on to add, “It is also true that with minimal testing allowed, we have been trying different set-ups at the races and these can lead you down different paths in terms of ride height, or the type of springs to use, or in terms of the aero balance
on the car and these elements can also impact on the development strategy for the car."
He appreciated Toro Rosso’s design team and added that the team had a good work with its 2011 car and as a result of it STR6 is capable of repeatedly competing for its points, during the races.
The team had a positive start to the 2011 season. In Australia race, its driver Sebastien Buemi finished his eighth fastest run among the strong rivals of Formula 1. With regards to Malaysia race, both the drivers Buemi and Jaime Alguersuari were unable
to gather their strong run, since they experienced some technical issues in their cars.
The team took part in Chinese Grand Prix with high expectations. However, they successfully finished their practice session and qualifying round on the grid. But, the race was disappointing for the team, as its driver Buemi put his team on the fourteenth
place and Alguersuari retired from the race.
Toro Rosso was pleased despite of its China race performance, as they considered that after the recent race they are going to have an exciting fight with Sauber, Force India and William all season. The next race will start on May 8, 2011, in Turkey.
