Toro Rosso driver Daniel Ricciardo still hurt after 2012 Bahrain Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Toro Rosso driver Daniel Ricciardo has expressed that he is feeling hurt because of his poor performance in 2012 Bahrain Grand Prix held on April 22.
Ricciardo performed reasonably well during the qualifying and secured 6th position in the grid which is his career best so far. However, he could not manage to keep up the level of his performance in the race and dropped to 16th place in the first lap.
Afterwards, the Australian driver said that his poor performance in the fourth race will continue to upset him in the season ahead.
“Whoever you are, this is going to happen from time to time,” Ricciardo said in his blog. “You're supposed to blank it and get on with the race - but being brutally honest it's hard to blank something like that. When I came around to begin the second lap
I knew I was 16th, I knew I had a damaged car and I knew the advantage I'd had starting sixth had blown away. You want to pretend it's not happening and imagine you're going to get another chance. The pitboard says otherwise.”
Moreover, he said that he has not been able to wipe off the unfortunate memory of the last race until now. Nevertheless, he said that maybe at some point in time in the future he will overcome this feeling and start looking forward to the approaching European
season.
In addition, he said that he is aiming to run his car in the in-season test which is going to be held at Mugello circuit, next week. He also said that they have planned to introduce few updates in the car for the 2012 Spanish Grand Prix which they will evaluate
in the Mugello test.
Besides, he said that they are trying their best to make the significant advancements and the necessary preparations for the season ahead in order to enhance the pace of their car.
It will be important to mention that he is currently standing at 15th place in the drivers’ championship with 2 points following the Venezuelan driver, Pastor Maldonado of Williams and has targeted to show competent performances in the upcoming races.
