Toro Rosso driver Daniel Ricciardo takes inspiration from Jean-Eric Vergne – Formula 1 news
Toro Rosso driver Daniel Ricciardo has said that he is taking inspiration from his teammate, Jean-Eric Vergne, who has performed incredibly well in a couple of races in the 2013 Formula 1 season so far.
Ricciardo, Vergne and Kimi Raikkonen of Lotus have been included in the list of potential candidates to replace Mark Webber of Red Bull Racing who has announced to retire from the sport at the end of this season.
There has been a considerable improvement in the performance of the Aussie driver after he was reported to get shortlisted to replace his compatriot at the Milton Keynes based team. He came 8th in the British Grand Prix after taking a start from fifth grid
slot. Afterwards, he delivered an amazing qualifying performance in the German GP and managed to secure 6th grid position. However, he failed to score any points at Nurburgring as he came 12th.
It has been rumoured that the improvement in his performance is because of his intention to join Red Bull in the next season. However, he discharged all the rumours and insisted that he is inspired by his teammate who has performed convincingly well in Monaco
and Canada and managed to score 12 points for his team. He also stated that he is positively looking forward to improve his pace to perform well in the season ahead.
“Before all the Red Bull talk, I had come off two poor races,” he is quoted as saying by Autosport.
“We had three weeks off after Montreal and that was a good time to really reassess a few things and try and bring the boys together and myself and really try and understand how we can move forward,” he said.
“That alone, and the fact that JEV had two really strong races, which showed the car had potential, gave me a lot of fire,” he added. “I like to think I always work hard away from the cockpit, but maybe I worked even harder.”
Presently, he is standing at 14th place in the drivers’ championship with 11 points. Let’s see how he performs in the forthcoming races.
