Toro Rosso driver Jaime Alguersuari: I lost position after collision with Kobayashi – Formula 1 news
Toro Rosso driver Jaime Alguersuari has insisted that he lost one position after a collision with Sauber’s Kamui Kobayashi during the 2011 Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix held on Sunday, July 31, 2011 in Budapest.
Alguersuari was moving in the right direction from the start of the Budapest race weekend. He made a lot of struggle on the supersoft and soft tyres during the Grand Prix and ended up at the 10th place for the team.
The team driver blamed his contact with Kobayashi for a tenth place finish in the Hungarian GP, because he believes he can get maximum from there.
Talking to reporters, the Spaniard said, “But I carried on fighting and towards the end, it was unfortunate that I lost another place after the collision with Kobayashi, but as a team performance we can consider we did a good job today, so it is a nice way
to go into the short break, although I can't wait to start again in Spa.”
The 21-year-old driver started his race from the 16th place on the opening grid and finished his run ahead of Kobayashi after a collision with him.
His teammate Sebastien Buemi had a great time in the Hungarian Grand prix, as he has showed a very impressive performance at the Hungaroring race circuit following his disappointing qualifying round.
Buemi started his Budapest race from the 23rd place on the racetrack and came in the eight spot after making a lot of struggle for his best finish in Hungary.
Toro Rosso boss Franz Tost was delighted at his team’s results in Budapest. He said, “With some help from two excellent performances from our drivers, the team gave itself the best possible present to celebrate Scuderia Toro Rosso's 100th grand prix, since
we first took to the track in Bahrain in 2006.”
Tost discussed with the media that the team’s eighth and tenth place finish is their best result in the 2011 Formula 1 season so far. He added that from the strategy point of view, both of the drivers did an excellent job in difficult conditions during the
race.
After an impressive race weekend in Hungary, the team is looking forward to the rest of the ongoing season.
