Toro Rosso driver Jaime Alguersuari: I still have a lot of things to learn – Formula 1 news
Toro Rosso driver Jaime Alguersuari has said that he still needs to learn a lot of things for his better race on the grid.
Alguersuari had a good race weekend in the 2011 Korean Grand Prix, where he took seventh position for the team after battling it out with their rivals.
Despite his better performance at the Korea International Circuit, Alguersuari stated that there are still a lot of things that he must learn for his positive show in the rest of the 2011 Formula 1 season.
The Spaniard discussed the ongoing season and mentioned that they had a lot of potential during the races and less in the qualifying rounds so far due to the tyres.
Alguersuari commented, “We are solving these problems now because we have been working a lot on the car and we do have more downforce than we had in the past, so it is more easy to work on the car. I always say this - when you have a more competitive car,
life becomes more easy, driving and overtaking, and now we can show [our potential].”
The 21-year-old driver further added that the STR6 car was the same in terms of performance in the Korean Grand Prix as Suzuka. They just did a better job of understanding all the upgrades that the team brought in Suzuka.
He went on to mention, “So I was happy with that, happy with the progress of the team, and we really deserved the result - especially because the mechanics have been working so hard to get the best out of the car.”
The team is sitting at the eighth place behind Sauber with 37 points in the 2011 constructors’ championship. However, Alguersuari said that they are aiming to beat Sauber in the championship battle and that they want to finish their season at the seventh
place.
After completing 16 rounds of the 2011 Formula 1 season, Alguersuari is placed at the 13th place with 22 points in the drivers’ championship.
Let’s see how the team driver performs at the newly constructed Buddh International Circuit in India on October 30, 2011.
