Toro Rosso driver Jaime Alguersuari confident of race seat until end of 2011 Formula 1 season
Toro Rosso driver Jaime Alguersuari has said that he is confident he will drive for his current team until the end of the 2011 Formula 1 season.
He believes he can deliver enough to keep his team bosses happy in the upcoming race weekends of the ongoing season.
Alguersuari admitted that he has not yet shown a great performance for his team and made a lot of mistakes during the races of the ongoing season. However, he is sure he will be able to get good points by the end of the year.
Talking to the reporters, the Spaniard said, “Working on the car set-up, and understanding the tyres this year, I knew from my side it was just a matter of time. I am not Rubens [Barrichello] or Fernando Alonso, who have loads of years in F1 and knows everything
straight away. I got used to F1 and now it is completely different to last year.”
He went on to mention, “It is just a matter of confidence and staying calm. I know all the rumours were around the paddock, but I knew I was doing my best. I don't decide my future because I am not the boss from Red Bull, I am not Helmut, but I was confident
it was a matter of time.”
The 21-year-old driver discussed with the media that he has been faster during the race days as compared to the qualifying rounds so far, so he is sure if he makes progress during the Qualifiers, he can get better results from the race day.
The team driver further added that he still has a potential to perform strongly on the grid, but due to an unsupportive role of his car, he is unable to do it.
In the recently held British Grand Prix, Alguersuari finished his race in the 10th place. His race results were unsatisfactory for the team, as they were expecting a decent finish from him at the Silverstone race circuit.
After a disappointing race weekend in Silverstone, the Toro Rosso team is hoping for better results from their drivers, Alguersuari and Sebastien Buemi at the upcoming German Grand Prix that will start from Friday, July 22, 2011 in Nürburgring.
