Toro Rosso driver Jaime Alguersuari’s performance in the 2011 Formula 1 season so far
Toro Rosso driver Jaime Alguersuari is still not in a strong form in the 2011 Formula 1 season following his disappointing start.
Alguersuari made his debut in Formula 1 during the 2009 season. The Toro Rosso team brought him to the mainstream in 2009. He started his career and learnt all different aspects of the sport by staying with them.
After learning different features of STR6 car and new rules of the ongoing season in 2011 winter test sessions, the Spaniard started his season with hopes of giving more to his team during the races.
The team driver kicked off to below par 2011 F1 season, as he was unable to show his positive performance in the first round. After starting the Australian race from the 12th place on the Albert Park Circuit, he ended
up in the 11th spot for the team.
The Australian race results were disappointing for Toro Rosso, as Alguersuari could not score points for them during that.
The 2011 Malaysian Grand Prix proved as unsuccessful for the 21-year-old driver, because he dropped his position over there after a fight with Mercedes GP’s Nico Rosberg for a few laps. The Toro Rosso driver started his Sepang race from the 13th
place on the opening grid and finished at the 14th position behind his teammate Sebastien Buemi, who came at the 13th place in the final race classifications.
Alguersuari was the only driver who retired from the 2011 Chinese Grand Prix. He had some wheel nut issue in his car and due to that he had to retire from the race in the early stages of the Shanghai race.
The Spaniard was quite slow in the Turkish Grand Prix behind his teammate Buemi. He came at the 16th position in the final race classifications at the Istanbul Park circuit.
The Italian-based outfit driver had a fight with Williams’ rookie Pastor Maldonado in the 2011 Spanish Grand Prix. After that, he finally ended his race at the 16th place at Circuit de Catalunya.
Alguersuari retired for the second time in the ongoing season at the Monaco GP. After completing 66 laps, the team driver had an accident and due to that he had to retire from the Monte Carlo race.
The Spaniard impressed his team in the 2011 Canadian Grand Prix. He made a lot of struggle in wet conditions on the sets of soft and supersoft tyres by Pirelli. After that, he finally ended his race at the eighth place behind Sauber’s Kamui Kobayashi, who
was in the seventh spot at the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve.
The team driver was again at the eighth position in the European Grand Prix after Canada following his disappointing qualifying round at the Valencia Street Circuit.
Alguersuari put Toro Rosso at the 10th place in the 2011 British Grand Prix after putting all of his efforts.
After scoring some points for the team in the last couple of races of the ongoing season, Alguersuari dropped down his positions in the German Grand Prix. After starting from the 16th place on the Nurburgring racetrack he came at
the 12th place in the final race classifications.
He successfully scored a single point for his team in the 2011 Hungarian Grand Prix after getting disappointing results in the qualifying round at the Hungaroring racetrack.
He ended his Budapest race in the 10th spot after starting from the 16th position on the grid.
