Toro Rosso driver Jean-Eric Vergne admits he is under pressure – Formula 1 news
Toro Rosso driver Jean-Eric Vergne has admitted that he is feeling pressure from his team to perform well in the 2012 Formula 1 season ahead.
Vergne said that although he and his teammate, Daniel Ricciardo have been quite under pressure, nevertheless, they are aiming to come up stronger in the races ahead. Furthermore, he said that they have been trying their best to improve their performance
in the forthcoming races.  
“There's also a lot of talk about pressure facing both me and Daniel - pressure to perform, to beat each other, to prove that we can step up to next level when time comes . There's pressure from within as well. Me and Daniel have to be at top of our game
all time because there's a lot invested in us and also because everyone within Toro Rosso expects us to deliver to best of our ability, all the time,” he said.
In addition, he said that they are making the best of the efforts to enhance their race pace in the season ahead. Besides, he admired Daniel’s performance in the season until now. He also said that the competition is very tough in this year’s championship.
However, he said that if they push harder they can attain better results in the approaching races.
The French driver has only been able to score 4 points in the season so far and is presently standing at 17th position in the drivers’ championship. Additionally, he is 2 points ahead of his teammate and is 13 points behind Nico Hulkenberg of
Force India.
Even though he said that he has been facing immense pressure from the Italian team to score some reasonable points in the upcoming races. Nonetheless, he asserted that he is taking the stress positively and is focussing to perform at his best in the season
ahead to make his team’s position stronger in the title fight.
“I've always done well under pressure. I respond to it well and it's never been a problem for me,” he said.
Let’s see how they come up in the German Grand Prix which is to be held at Hockenheimring on July 22.
