Toro Rosso driver Sebastien Buemi says he is faster than Jaime Alguersuari – Formula 1 news
Toro Rosso driver Sebastien Buemi has insisted that he was clearly faster than his teammate Jaime Alguersuari in the last couple of grands prix qualifying rounds.
He also said that he really worked hard for his team in the previous races and he believes his efforts will pay out at some point in the remainder of the 2011 Formula 1 season.
The Swiss driver discussed with the media and said that he wants to stay with Toro Rosso in the next 2012 season. In addition, he added that he is looking forward to score decent points for his team in the upcoming race weekends of this season.
Buemi said, “I am working harder and at some point it will pay out. I was clearly faster than Alguersuari in both qualifying sessions. And in Valencia he had another set of tyres because he missed the first hurdle in qualifying! Of course I have to live
with it, and what counts in the end is the speed, and I have that.”
The team driver Buemi admitted that no doubt Alguersuari is performing very well in the season and that he made good progress during the race days. However, he said he was faster as compared to him during the qualifying sessions.
Toro Rosso admitted that their driver Alguersuari is moving in the right direction since the last couple of races, as he scored supportive points for the team.
In the recently held European Grand Prix, the Spanish driver made an impressive run on the grid. He had a very close fight with Renault’s Nick Heidfeld for a few laps and finally finished his race at the eighth place.
Apart from that, the team boss Franz Tost has informed that the team driver Buemi’s future is in danger after a very strong performance by Alguersuari in the last couple of races.
He also mentioned that the 21-year-old driver has secured his future with Toro Rosso by making good progress during the Canadian and European Grands Prix.
After the European race weekend, the team is expecting better results from their drivers in the upcoming British Grand Prix which is scheduled to be held on July 10, 2011 at the Silverstone circuit.
