Toro Rosso driver Sebastien Buemi says he is not sweating over his seat – Formula 1 news
Toro Rosso driver Sebastien Buemi has said that he is not nervous of driving for his team keeping in mind that his Formula 1 full season race seat is under constant threat.
It is believed that since the team’s test driver Daniel Ricciardo was present at the Friday practice sessions during the Chinese Grand Prix, the pressure is increasing on Buemi as the team might replace him with Ricciardo.
On the other hand, his teammate Jaime Alguersuari is also going through a similar situation and might lose his place if he fails to impress in the ongoing 2011 season.
Toro Rosso are backed by Red Bull and since Red Bull Racing Team are the current world champions, the pressure on Toro Rosso has increased as well. They need to do better and challenge the mid-running teams of the sport.
Since the team told both of its drivers that they might be replaced whenever needed, Buemi claims that he can only compare himself to Alguersuari as a result of which, the German is comfortable with the current situation.
“I'm calm because regardless of results I've always done my maximum. Compared to my teammate I've never done badly. Red Bull gives young drivers a chance to get into F1, so you always know that besides you there are other guys that try to show their abilities
and aim to drive for the team. If you give up, it's over for you,” said Buemi.
Red Bull Racing Team prefers using its own drivers in the sport and since Toro Rosso is also backed by the beverage company, it uses the same policy as well. As a result, both Alguersuari and Buemi are hoping to impress the managers of the championship winning
team in order to secure a seat at Red Bull if an opportunity arises. This is because Red Bull driver Mark Webber is on a year-by-year contract and might leave the sport after the conclusion of the current 2011 season.
Nevertheless, Buemi is hoping to secure good results in the near future and is hoping to not only maintain his seat with Toro Rosso, but also looking for an opportunity to race for Red Bull if it comes his way.
