Toro Rosso duo Alguersuari, Buemi happy with points finish in Canadian Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Toro Rosso drivers Jaime Alguersuari and Sebastien Buemi have said that they are quite happy with their points finish in the 2011 Formula 1 Canadian Grand Prix.
The team took a positive start in the Montreal race weekend, where both the drivers completed their Friday practice sessions in a decent manner. The Saturday session was also good for the team, as they had a trouble free run during the qualifying round.
Toro Rosso driver Alguersuari started his race from the 18th place on the starting grid and ended up on the eighth position. The driver was quite happy with his run in the Montreal Grand Prix.
After the race, the Spaniard admitted that his team did a great job over the Canadian race weekend. In addition, he said that he availed all the opportunities that came his way.
The team came up with a perfect race strategy for them. The 21-year-old driver said that the decision to change no more tyres in the closing laps proved successful for the team.
His teammate Buemi took tenth place for the team. However, he was unsatisfied with his Canadian race performance. The Swiss said that he would have been pleased to take some more points for the team since he wanted to do better in Montreal.
He said, “I am pleased to have scored a point as that is always important. However, I am a bit disappointed because I think I could have done better myself and I'm not sure if changing to the slicks so early worked for me.”
Apart from that, Toro Rosso principal Franz Tost mentioned that he is satisfied with his team drivers’ performance in North America.
Tost further added, “Our strategy worked well, gambling to come in early to change to slicks, which proved to be the correct decision and paid off. The whole team deserves praise today, as it was not easy managing the situation over such a long time with
the break in the middle of the race, but they did an excellent job.”
After a successful race weekend in Montreal, the team is hoping for better results in the remainder of the 2011 Formula 1 season.
