Toro Rosso not to change its drivers for 2011 season
Although Toro Rosso has yet not given its final verdict yet a number of sources from within the team assure that no change in the driver’s line up will be made for the upcoming season.
Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) announced the drivers’ list for 2011 Formula One season as given by the individual teams earlier this week. According to the list, Toro Rosso is yet to decide its drivers as the cockpit blocks were still marked
as, "TBA" (to be announced).
Toro Rosso, is owned by the Austrian Beverage manufacturer company, Red Bull that also owns the Red Bull Racing, the team that has been successful in bagging both the drivers’ as well as the constructors’ Championship of the year. The winning team has already
announced to continue with their current drivers’ line up i.e. Sebastian Vettel, the new world Champion and Mark Webber for the next year also.
Initially there were speculations that the Red Bull junior’s driver, Daniel Ricciardo might take a place in the team. However, the driver has been recently announced to be serving on the Friday practice sessions for the team for 2011 season, replacing either
Sebastian Buemi or Jaime Alguersuari. With this announcement and several other hints from the team many now firmly believe that the team is to stick with the Swiss Buemi and the Spaniard Alguersuari for another season.
A statement issued by the Toro Rosso earlier said, "As already confirmed earlier this year, (the team's) driver lineup ... remains unchanged for 2011. Indeed, 22-year-old Buemi is at the team's Italian headquarters this week.”
The 2010 season had although not been a brilliant one for the team majorly because it did not produce a very competitive car. As the season came to an end the Red Bull owned junior team stands at 9th place in the Constructors’ championship with
just 13 points earned all through the year, following BMW Sauber that has 44 points under its belt.
On the other hand, both the team drivers, Buemi and Alguersuari were also not able to stand anywhere better than 16th and 19th place with having bagged just 8 and 5 points respectively.
However, the owner beverage company, Red Bull is reluctant to raise the team in the upcoming season although still priority, like always before, will be the Red Bull Racing.
