Toro Rosso team boss Franz Tost avoids comments on Giorgio Ascanelli speculation – Formula 1 news
Toro Rosso team boss, Franz Tost has refused to express his view regarding the ongoing speculations that their technical director, Giorgio Ascanelli has left the team.
Ascanelli is not with the team since the German Grand Prix which was held at Hockenheimring and the reports are suggesting that he has taken the decision to leave the sister concern of Red Bull Racing because of his disagreement with the ongoing car’s development
process.
However, Tost avoided to speak up on the issue and insisted that the only thing which he can tell about right now is that the Italian has gone out for holidays. In addition, he asserted that he can say nothing else because it’s a matter of confidentiality.
“I can only tell you that Giorgio Ascanelli is on holiday and there's confidentiality between the two parties,” Tost replied when asked to confirm the status of Ascanelli within the team. “That's all that I can say to this.”
Besides, when he was asked to provide the reason that why Ascanelli wasn’t present during the weekend in Germany, he rejected to make further comments.
“Sorry,” he said. “I've said everything.”
The Swiss team has only been able to score six points in the current season so far and is standing at 9th place in the constructors’ championship. Additionally, they are ahead of Caterham and are behind Force India.
Meanwhile, their driver, Jean-Eric Vergne is at 17th place in the drivers’ championship with 4 points. Furthermore, he is behind Nico Hulkenberg of Force India and is ahead of his teammate, Daniel Ricciardo who has only scored 2 points in the
first eleven races of the season.
Over and above, they are making the considerable progress so as improve the pace of their car in order to secure competitive results in the season ahead.
It is to be noted that where on one hand, there is a tough competition going on in the higher and middle order, the teams at the back are struggling to score points. Let’s see whether Toro Rosso will be able to make its way into the mid-field in the forthcoming
races or not.
