Toro Rosso’s Sebastian Buemi breaks fastest waterslide record
Red Bull Racing’s sister team Toro Rosso had a disappointing season yet again, as they finished at the tail end of the constructors’ standings over the three new teams Virgin Racing Team, Lotus Racing Team and Hispania Racing Team (HRT), scoring the least
points.
Toro Rosso entered Formula 1 grid in 2006 and since then, the team has not been able to prove its mettle. It is quite obvious that unless the team makes a notable change, it would be impossible for them to share the limelight with the top guns in the sport.
Nevertheless, the team is trying its best to improve its performance. Red Bull has set a benchmark for Toro Rosso and it would be interesting to see both of the Red Bull teams at the top of their games.
Toro Rosso driver Sebastien Buemi has been unable to prove his worth since his inclusion in the sport since 2009. He finished at 16th place with just 8 points. The results were devastating for the team as one of their main rivals Force India became
a part of the sport later than Toro Rosso and still came up with better performance.
Although financial backings make a huge impact in the sport but experience cannot be ruled out either. The team hopes to return to the sport once again in 2011, this time with a better car. Toro Rosso has not revealed its drivers’ list yet, keeping the names
of contending drivers undisclosed.
However, Sebastien Buemi did not sit idle. He did prove his speed, not on the racetrack, but on a waterslide instead.
The young Swiss driver made a new record of fastest speed on a waterslide. He manoeuvred at Aquaparc in Le Bouveret, Switzerland as he went faster than the previous record holder.
“I have a competitive spirit, whatever game I am taking part in. It can be dangerous in the sense that you can slip over, that's true. But I was careful. Before coming, I got the 'ok' from my team,” he said.
The driver also admitted that the stunt was quite risky for him; since he did not favour an injury anytime before the start of 2011 Formula 1.
