Toro Rosso’s Sebastien Buemi: I have a contract with Red Bull until 2013 – Formula 1 news
Toro Rosso driver Sebastien Buemi has said that he is not worried about his future with his current team, because he already has a contract with Red Bull Racing until 2013.
Toro Rosso were looking to change their 2011 drivers’ line-up of Jaime Alguersuari and Buemi for the 2012 Formula 1 season. The team showed their interest towards the Hispania Racing Team driver Daniel Ricciardo for the next season. They said that if Buemi
and Alguersuari are not be able to perform well for them during their races, then the team will have to replace one of them by Ricciardo at the end of the ongoing season.
Recently, Buemi talked to the media and said that he is really not worried about his future with the team as he has a contract with Italian-based outfit until 2013. However, he said that his teammate Alguersuari is under threat, because he does not have
a contract with any other F1 team at the moment except Toro Rosso.
Talking to the reporters, the Swiss driver mentioned, “I have a contract with Red Bull until 2013. So it's not my choice to make contact with other teams.”
Apart from that, he discussed his current position in the 2011 Formula 1 season and added that he always tried to finish ahead of his teammate Alguersuari both in the qualifying round and Sunday’s races.
The 22-year-old driver went on to say, “I always struggle to finish ahead of him [Alguersuari], both in qualifying and the race. In 11 races I’ve finished ahead in seven. That is very positive.”
After completing the 2011 Hungarian Grand Prix, Buemi is at the 13th place ahead of Alguersuari in the drivers’ championship with 12 points. The team driver further said that it is very positive for him, as he is ahead of his teammate in the championship
battle at the moment.
Let’s see how both of the drivers manage their races in the rest of the season for their 2012 race seat with Toro Rosso.
