Toronto Blue Jays' Ricky Romero geared up for next Major League season – MLB News
Toronto Blue Jays' starting pitcher Ricky Romero wants to forget about 2012 Major League Baseball season for a new better beginning in 2013.
Recently speaking to several media personals, he told them that he will be coming with more offensive approach in the next MLB season. Some local newspapers have also speculated in the media that in the next MLB season, Romero will not be representing the Blue Jays.
Blue Jays and Romero had an awful 2012 campaign. Especially having a lot of experience, Romero could not do much and disappointed his fans.
Finishing season at 5.77 ERA along with 9-14 win-loss, 124 strike-outs and 1.67 WHIP. While his team finished fourth in the American League East with 73-89 win-loss and .451 winning percentage.
“If you guys are dictating my future on one year, then I think a lot of people have it all wrong, I know where I stand, I know what I can do.” Romero said after speculations rose that his potential future with the Blue Jays is in danger.
Romero also explained that he knows his chances very well in the Major League as he also understands his responsibility as a player.
Later GM Alex Anthopoulos discussed the Blue Jays’ overall performance and said, “We just need quality, And if we can go get five front-of-the-rotation guys, we’re certainly going to do it. You look at the best quality you can get. That’s what it’s going to come down to. The rotation needs to get better."
He added, “Absolutely, major additions, we’re not close to where we need to be. I don’t know that today I’m prepared to answer that question.”
According to some experts, these comments by Romero and Blue Jays' GM are quite optimistic and shows hope for good results in the coming season.
Coming onto the optimism which Romero is showing on his personal performance, many believe that this was still his third MLB season, while if he wants to grow more as good role player in the league, he must focus on his fast deliveries which were hammered by the batters in the regular season.
