Toronto Blue Jays' starting pitcher Dustin McGowan confident ahead of next season
The Toronto Blue Jays' talented starting pitcher Dustin McGowan is showing some great confidence ahead of next Major League Baseball season after getting a spot in 2011 rotation with mutual consent of entire franchise.
Recently, several baseball reporters had a brief interview with McGowan where he told them some interesting facts about his own game and why he is feeling so confident ahead of 2012. He stated with confidence that he is feeling well and training hard.
McGowan said, “To tell you the truth, it might have been good to add somebody, a veteran pitcher or something, but we didn’t, I’m pretty sure we’ve got the talent and depth now to fill those holes. Apparently it wasn’t a big deal not to add anybody. I’m excited just to go to camp and compete, now that I know I’m healthy and I can do it. All the guys that are going to be competing and even the guys coming from Triple-A can handle that job.”
Coming in the starting roster from time to time in the recent past, McGowan has played three full seasons with the Blue Jays (2005, 2008, and 2011). His inconsistency is largely due to his injury issues but now he is feeling much better and training hard in his native town Georgia.
His late comments in the media are also very positive for his team who in this particular season is depending on their talented experienced pitchers. Though the Blue Jays’ entire roster including hitters are training hard in this offseason but some inside executives are putting some extra pressure on fast throwing in order to achieve good results next season.
Last season, the Blue Jays lost many games because their pitching was not up-to the task. Their bullpen seemed not-at-all at ease as they faced too many difficulties throwing at hard hitters. Now, McGowan’s comments circulated in the media, several experts are stating that it will help the Blue Jays as a whole. These comments will enhance the level of competitiveness in the Blue Jays’ roster, as they were unable to achieve productive results in 2011.
