Toronto Blue Jays’ John Farrell discusses pitcher Ricky Romero after 3-2 win over LA Angels

Toronto Blue Jays’ manager John Farrell took the opportunity on Monday, September 19 to talk to the press after his squad beat the Los Angeles Angels 3-2 at Rogers Centre in Toronto.
The winner came in the tenth inning, courtesy of Mike McCoy who ran home on a ground ball shot off Adam Lind. Nevertheless, the winner might have not been possible if the hitters did not have any support from Ricky Romero.
The gusty starter did not move on to his 16th win of the season but he did deliver nine innings to keep the Los Angeles Angels locked on two runs. His presence brought immense pleasure to the Toronto fielders and hitters as the Angels were stuck
and frustrated against the ball thrower.
Farrell took the time out to talk about his main star who finished his nine innings of pitching with just two runs and six hits allowed. The skipper spoke highly of the player and reflected on the two runs that went against the striker. Torii Hunter and
Mark Trumbo smashed two homers against the starter in the game. They were the only shots registered against the player.
The Manager made a good note of the concessions from Romero.
Farrell said, "The two fastballs up to both Hunter and Trumbo got [away] from him. [Those] were the only two blemishes on what was otherwise an outstanding nine-inning performance on his part."
Romero is currently 15-10 and he is one of the prime throwers of the ball in the league. Farrell was quick to talk about his athleticism and dedication to the game.
"I think when you look at a starting rotation, or starting pitcher, innings are like gold. When a starter can go out and pitch as many innings as he's capable of, then a lot of things are happening right.”
The skipper concluded by highlighting the fact that the trademark for a starter is innings and nothing less than that. Romero put in a brilliant pitching performance as the Blue Rays got a much needed win against the Angels.
