Toronto Blue Jays’ Jose Bautista thinks nothing wrong if Justin Verlander wins MVP
The Toronto Blue Jays’ out-fielder Jose Bautista has said that he has no problems with the Detroit Tigers’ star pitcher Justin Verlander being eligible for this year’s Most Valuable Player Award (MVP).
He spoke to the media and explained in detail and tried to describe his point of view regarding the choice of MVP.
Bautista said, “As the rules pertain, he's eligible right now, It's one of those things where he had such an amazing year that he's in line for the Cy Young and the MVP at the same time. I can't remember the last time I saw a pitcher have a year like he
did -- maybe Pedro Martinez when he was in Boston.”
Bautista, who was given the Hank Aaron award on Monday along with the Los Angeles Dodgers’ Matt Kemp, spoke and told the media as Verlander is not the only one who deserves this prestigious award, as the he also performed relatively well and deserve to be
nominated for 2011 MVP.
Bautista went even one step further, saying my individual 43 home-runs and .608 slugging average also deserve more appreciation than receiving only the Hank Aaron award. Later, he said, he is still happy and looking forward for more opportunities in the
near future.
Regardless what Bautista says, the Tigers’ star pitcher Verlander is looking sure shot to win this year’s MVP award. His tremendous individual performance speaks for itself. His performance remained consistent throughout the regular season and even in the
post-season especially against the Texas Rangers in American League Championship Series (ALCS).
Verlander’s 24-5 and 2.40 ERA prove his tremendous performance that has earned him great acknowledgement from many baseball experts including the majority of MLB coaches and managers. Many speculations are also coming as Verlander will also win the Cy Young
award that is a symbol of a great pitcher and only given to those pitchers who prove best among the other league pitchers.
It will be interesting to see if Verlander manages to win the MVP Award for his hard work and dedication to his team.
