Toronto Blue Jays: Regular season results – MLB June 2011
Toronto Blue Jays had a poor run during the month of May 2011. John Farrell and his men were looking to improve their win-loss record with some consistent performance in the following month. Although they were hammered 1-2 in their first series against Cleveland
Indians, the Blue Jays came back strongly in their next series against Baltimore Orioles to register their first series victory of the month.
J.P. Arencibia hit his ninth home-run of the regular season to let his side secure a convincing 8-4 win in game one of the series.
"It's one of those things you don't really think about," Arencibia said. "I don't remember the last time I hit a grand slam in baseball. It was just one of those things."
Although they lost their way in game two, the Blue Jays were back to their very best in the third and final game to wrap up their first series victory of the month. Adam Lind returned from a lengthy stay on the disabled list and he went 4-for-4 with two
homers and three RBI’s to let his side take complete control of the contest.
"He's been extremely productive against left-handers and that was the case again tonight," Blue Jays’ manager John Farrell said. "He's done an excellent at the plate and behind the plate, and tonight he had a very good game all-around."
With momentum on their side, the Blue Jays continued their impressive form in their next four match series against Kansas City Royals. Thrashing the Royals 8-5 in game two, the Blue Jays made the most of the available opportunities to level the series. In
game three, John Farrell and his men fought hard right till the last minute to clinch a thrilling 9-8 victory.
Toronto Blue Jays had a disappointing series against Boston Red Sox as they failed to win a single game in a three match series. Both pitching and hitting departments failed badly as they suffered humiliating (16-4 and 14-1) losses in last two games of the
series.
However, they did manage to restore some of their lost pride with a great 2-1 series victory over Baltimore Orioles. Another successful series against St. Luis Cardinals improved their win-loss record to 39-39. John Farrell aimed to continue their good work
to get to a better position in the Wild Card standings.
The Blue Jays understood that they would have to go all out and win games consistently in order to have any sort of chance for a post-season position. Their focus was to get into the playoffs through the Wild Card, as they have the depth and talent to move
forward before the end of the regular season.
