Toronto Blue Jays and Jose Bautista sign five year deal worth $65 million – MLB News
It looks like the Jose Bautista has gotten what he wanted as he just signed a five year contract with the Toronto Blue Jays worth $65 million.
Both parties seem satisfied as the Blue Jays were looking to retain their star slugger and Bautista really was not interested in going anywhere for now. Bautista is tremendous player who has proven his worth for the Blue Jays, as he hit 54 home-runs last
year. If he continues with the way that he is going, Bautista will shatter many records before his career is over.
The Blue Jays will be looking to Bautista to repeat this same type of performance as Spring Training is starting and the team want to win plain and simple. The team is desperate for a successful regular season and is hopeful of a possible post-season appearance.
The team understands the importance of having a strong positive line-up for Spring Training to work out different strategies and get some much needed game time to some of the younger players against some of the top tier teams in the league. This new contract
should give Bautista a boost and will allow him to go out and play baseball the way he likes.
There was really no way that the Blue Jays were going to let Bautista go anywhere and that is reason they negotiated something that both sides were happy with. Bautista is worth every penny as he has proven himself time and time again for the Blue Jays.
His record last year was tremendous as he was rated as the third highest player in the league. That is no easy feat with the likes of Prince Fielder, Albert Pujols, Alex Rodriguez and other top rated players all out on the field to perform for their respective
teams.
Bautista will be looking to put in a good performance during Spring Training and to remain healthy for the regular season. It will be interesting to see the impact of this new contract will have on his performance during the 2011 regular season. The Blue
Jays will be looking to Bautista to lead them through the grueling regular season and get as many wins as possible. The team really wants to come out aggressively and make a mark this season.
