Toronto Blue Jays beat Chicago White Sox 7-5 – MLB news
Toronto Blue Jays showed just what they are capable of as they secured a comfortable 7-5 win against the Chicago White Sox at U.S. Cellular Field in Chicago, Illinois in Game 2 of their two match series of the 2013 Major League Baseball regular season.
Blue Jays displayed some top quality baseball skills in a game that turned out to be completely one sided. Credit should be given to the pitching rotation for executing the game plan to perfection. Starting pitcher Chien Ming Wang led from the front as he
allowed just three runs in seven plus innings while striking out three batters. Striking out batters at regular intervals, he laid the foundations of an impressive win for his team. It will not be wrong to say that Wang showed nerves of steel in a high scoring
contest and was eventually rewarded big time.
Relief pitcher Brett Cecil also had a great time on the mound as he pitched 1.2 scoreless innings of relief to grab his second win of the season. Closer Casey Janssen pitched the perfect tenth to save his 13th game of the year.
Wang made his first start of the season after signing with the injury-riddled Blue Jays, lasting 7 1/3 innings while giving up five runs and 10 hits to help Toronto avoid a three-game losing streak.
“I thought he did a great job,” Gibbons said. “He really did.”
“It's baseball season. We're happy tonight and tomorrow's a new day,” said Lind, who had three hits. “Another tough game tomorrow, their ace (Chris Sale) is on the mound so we know what we're in for.”
Blue Jays started the game on an aggressive note and continued to put pressure on their opponents, grabbing opportunities with both hands. Manager John Gibbons will be very happy with what he saw from his men in a game that was important for both teams.
It will be interesting to see if Gibbons and company can continue the good work to have any chance of replacing the Boston Red Sox at the top of American League East Division standings table.
