Toronto Blue Jays beat Colorado Rockies 5-0 – MLB Spring Training
Toronto Blue Jays humiliated Colorado Rockies 5-0 at the Salt River Fields at Talking Stick, Pima County Arizona on March 8, in their Cactus League encounter of the 2012 Major League Baseball Spring Training Game.
The key to the Ray’s success this spring season has been their ability to handle nerves under pressure. With four wins in six spring league games, the Rays seem to be on the right track. The Rays’ pitching attack is looking in great shape ahead of 2012 regular
season and the manager will have to make some crucial decisions to pick the right combination.
Felipe Paulino and Aaron Crow aren’t making Joe Maddon’s job easy either as they both pitched with great control and accuracy to help the Rays secure a comfortable 5-0 win over the Rockies. Both pitchers threw two scoreless innings on Thursday in an attempt
to win a spot on Rays’ starting rotation. Max Ramirez and Yuniesky Betancourt produced magical performances in hitting department of the game as they both hit solo home runs to let their side establish complete control over the contest.
"I have confidence in it," Crow said. "In the past, I've thrown it with success. Just last year, I didn't really throw it that much. I didn't need to, throwing one inning at a time, but it's something that needs to get better if I want to be a starter."
"(We) saw some flashes out of Paulino, what we're looking for, pitching consistently down," Royals manager Ned Yost said. "He was a little better in the second inning than he was in the first. Stuff was tremendous. Crow was very good. All of them pitched
very, very well."
Ramirez has looked in outstanding form since the start of spring training session. The striker struggled to make the most of available opportunities last season. With three home runs to his name already this spring, he certainly looks to be on the road to
recovery. Royals' manager Ned Yost was very disappointed with the outcome of the game. However, he aimed to give better results in their future games to cheer up the fans.
