Toronto Blue Jays beaten by Atlanta Braves 6-7 – MLB News
Toronto Blue Jays were beaten by the Atlanta Braves 6-7 at Rogers Centre in Toronto Ontario on Tuesday, May 28 in Game 2 of their two match series of the 2013 Major League Baseball regular season.
Blue Jays’ starting pitcher Brandon Morrow had a terrible time on the mound as he allowed four hits and four runs in just two innings but the Blue Jays did well to stay in the contest. Relief pitchers Ramon Ortiz,
Brett Cecil, Aaron Loup and Steve Delabar combined to give up just two runs in six solid innings.
"That's a pretty big three right there," Gonzalez said. "Too bad we're not in the American League. We've got to go back and play National League. But it's nice to have those three guys in the lineup all at one
time."
"We don't think it's much of an issue and the doctors don't think it's much of an issue," Blue Jays manager John Gibbons said in a post game interview. "We took him out as a precaution."
However, the closer, Thad Weber, was unable to handle the pressure, as he gave up the tie breaking single in the bottom of the tenth to take his first loss of the season. For the Braves, reliever Cory Gearrin
tossed up the perfect ninth to claim his first win of the year.
Edwin Encarnacion and Cody Rasmus made valuable contributions with the bat but the night belonged to Braves who held on to their slim lead to complete a deserving win.
It was another disappointing night for the Blue Jays, who failed to capitalise on their 1-0 series lead. Blue Jays Manager, John Gibbons, will be very frustrated with what he has seen from his men so far this
season. Considering the expensive moves Blue Jays management made during the offseason, fans had great expectations from this team but so far Blue Jays have not been able to live up to their immense potential. It will be interesting to see if Gibbons and his
men can learn from their mistakes and turn things around to make it to the playoffs.
