Toronto Blue Jays blown away by Baltimore Orioles 0-3 – MLB Update
Toronto Blue Jays were outplayed by Baltimore Orioles 0-3 at the Oriole Park at Camden Yards in Baltimore, Maryland on Wednesday, April 25 in the second game of their three match series of the 2012 Major League Baseball regular season.
John Farrell and company had an excellent chance to level the series in the game on Wednesday evening after Baltimore failed to score in the first two innings, thanks to Wilson Betemit who committed an error at third base.
But Orioles’ striker made the Blue Jays pay heavily for their inability to convert easy scoring opportunities as he homered in the third to give his side 1-0 lead. Chris Davis doubled Orioles’ advantage in the fourth as hit a towering home run into the left
field. Adam Jones made a valuable effort in the bottom of the eighth to help the Orioles take an impassable 3-0 lead.
Jason Hammel was brilliant for Baltimore as he gave up just four hits and struck out seven and walked one to improve his ERA to 1.73. Blue Jays’ starter Kyle Drabek took the loss despite allowing two runs and five hits in six solid innings. The offence will
have to put up a much better show in the finale if the Blue Jays want to win back their fans’ hearts.
"We have a great hitting club," Drabek said. "Today we happened to not score anything. But I'm not worried."
"You have a pitcher that's 94, 95 (mph) with two breaking balls for strikes," Toronto manager John Farrell said. "We'll tip our cap to him tonight. We're in a little bit of a dry patch right now, the last two nights, but I'm not going to take anything away
from their ability to pitch and how they have executed in these first two games."
Blue Jays have struggled to make the most of available opportunities since the start of their series with the Orioles. Despite putting up a hard fight in the opening game, Toronto was unable to cross the winning line to lose by 1-2. The Orioles showed great
character, discipline and determination to edge their opponents in that game.
