Toronto Blue Jays bring new manager – MLB Update
Toronto Blue Jays finally brought in a new team manager after completing all major tasks which team owners promised to initiate during the offseason.
The Blue Jays' management hired John Gibbons right after the successful completion of their blockbuster trade with the Miami Marlins.
Gibbons is coming in the Blue Jays for the second time in his managerial career. Earlier in 2004 to 2008, Gibbons had managed the Blue Jays with great focus.
His previous 305-305 win-loss record made the Blue Jays' management confident enough to give him managerial post for the second time.
Despite managing the Blue Jays in the past, the former New York Mets’ professional also managed San Antonio Missions during his short managerial stint.
Not only he has a great managing career, but during 2009 to 2011, he also worked as coach for the Kansas City Royals.
"This came as a big surprise to me, It's really a thrill and an honor to be back here. I never would have guessed this would happen," Gibbons said during his introductory news conference
Later general manager Alex Anthopoulos said, “From my standpoint, I don't know that there was anybody better in terms of managing a bullpen, connecting with players, connecting with the front office, holding players accountable—really everything you want from a manager, I don't know that there's anybody better to manage a team. I've got more conviction in this hire than any transaction we've made here."
This is a healthy sign for the Blue Jays as an experienced manager is joining them. The Blue Jays are already on right track while John Gibbons will also be a productive addition as team head on the field.
His post Major League experience as a player and later as manager will also help the Blue Jays gain good stats next Major League Baseball season.
Experts believe that Blue Jays made right decision at the right time. Bringing some of the best players in the roster after involving a trade with the Miami Marlins, the Blue Jays’ are already making noise and if things worked well for them in the coming year, they will be hard to tackle for any leading MLB franchise.
