Toronto Blue Jays complete their second series win – MLB Update
Toronto Blue Jays completed their second series win of 2012 regular season Major League Baseball with a brilliant 3-1 win over Boston Red Sox on Wednesday, April 11 at Rogers Centre in Toronto, Ontario.
The Blue Jays will be very pleased after pocketing another important victory. Considering Blue Jays’ performances over the last month or so, they have become one of the favourites to win the World Series title this season.
Only Detroit Tigers have managed to post better numbers in the American League Central division. Not only the Blue Jays have an emphatic pitching line up but they also have some great hitters in their batting line up.
The Blue Jays looked invincible at times during Spring Training Session and it seems if they have carried over their impressive form into the regular season.
The Blue Jays have now a great 4-2 win-loss record. Emerging victorious in four out of their six games, they have found ways to cross the winning line.
After losing the opening game to the Red Sox, the Blue Jays showed great determination, fighting spirits and mental strength to bounce back strongly in the final two games.
Toronto’s starting pitcher Ricky Romero put up a fine show, allowing three hits in just over eight innings to help the Blue Jays overcome the Red Sox in the final game of a three match series. Romero beat the Red Sox for the third straight time after earning
back to back wins last year on Sep 8 and Sep 14.
"There was quite a bit on my mind just because of everything that's happened," said Sergio Santos, who coughed up the lead in the ninth inning of Monday's home opener. "It was nice to block all that out, get out there and throw some effective pitches."
"Ricky was the story here today," Blue Jays manager John Farrell said.
"You can't ask for him to throw the ball any better than that," Dustin Pedroia said of Romero. "I feel horrible for him."
Not much has gone right for the Red Sox this season. They have lost five out of six games away from their home this season and they will be eager to turn things around in front of their home crowd.
