Toronto Blue Jays crush Atlanta Braves 9-5 – MLB Spring Training
Toronto Blue Jays crushed Atlanta Braves 9-5 at the Florida Auto Exchange Stadium in Dunedin, Florida on March 11 in their Spring Training encounter of the 2012 Major League Baseball Spring Training Sessions.
The Blue Jays have been outstanding form since the start of 2012 Spring Training. With an incredible 7-2 win-loss record this spring, things are looking up for John Farrell and his men. Showing their composure, fighting spirit and determination, the Jays secured yet another important win in a split squad game on Sunday.
Toronto made a very aggressive start to the match and they kept things really tight right till the end of the contest. The game was affected by three rain delays. The pitchers also had a hard time gripping the ball as they struggled to throw their sliders and fastballs with accuracy. For the Braves, Tommy Hanson made a terrific start to his spring training campaign as he allowed just two hits and walked one.
Hanson has been making the most of available opportunities over the last three years. Not only is he a powerful and reliable pitcher, he also has the ability to perform to his potential even in pressure situations. Although he has been a part of MLB for considerable amount of time now, he has turned things around dramatically in the last few years. His 11-7 win-loss record last season suggests that he has raised his game play to a higher level.
Starting in 77 games in the last three seasons for the Braves, he is a reliable and experienced player. To make more fans all over the world, the starter will be looking to maintain his sensational form throughout the 2012 regular season. Ideally, he will be looking to lead his team to the playoffs.
However, considering what Braves have managed to achieve so far this spring it does not seem very likely. In a post game interview, Hanson stated that he is getting into good shape before the start of 2012 regular season. The Blue Jays will be very excited at putting up yet another strong show as they improved their home record to 4-1. It will be interesting to see if they can make it to the playoffs this season.
