Toronto Blue Jays crush New York Yankees 6-1 – MLB Spring Training
Toronto Blue Jays crushed New York Yankees 6-1 at the Florida Auto Exchange Stadium, Dunedin Florida on Thursday, March 8 in a Grapefruit League encounter of the 2012 Major League Baseball Spring Training Sessions. The Jays made the most of available opportunities in a completely one side contest. The Yankees, on the other hand, looked a bit out of sorts as they wasted too many scoring opportunities, which eventually played a key role in deciding the outcome of the game.
Adam Lind, Toronto’s striker looked in commanding form as he made the Yankees’ Ivan Nova pay heavily for his mistakes. He earned a double in the second inning and then took third on Brett Lawrie’s single. J.P. Arencibia also made useful contribution with the bat as he hit a home run to the left field, taking advantage of strong wind blowing out in that direction. Travis Snider also homered in the sixth innings to let the Jays take complete control over the contest.
For the Yankees, starter Ivan Nova and reliever Chad Beck struggled to pitch on target as they leaked crucial runs. Nova gave up six hits and five runs in just over two innings as his side lost to Toronto Blue Jays 6-1.
The Jays made a very positive start to the game as they scored two runs in the third innings to put their opponents under pressure. Jose Bautista, Kelly Johnson and Lind singled off Nova for one.
"Something I'm doing out there (isn't right). Probably mechanics," Nova said. "Got to be something a little bit off. ... I feel really good. The velocity is there. My arm feels good. My body feels good. I'm working hard. I've just got to keep fighting. I know it's early in spring training. I know the location will be there, hopefully next start."
The Jays have produced decent performances so far in Spring Training session. It will be interesting to see if they can carry their form into the regular season. The Yankees, who made key changes to their squad in offseason, will be looking to bounce back in their next game.
