Toronto Blue Jays edge past Chicago White Sox 4-3 – MLB Recap
Toronto Blue Jays defeated the Chicago White Sox 4-3 in the first game of their four-match regular series encounter on Monday, April 15 at Rogers Centre.
Blue Jays entire roster played wonderfully and showed great commitment throughout the game. They started well and finished the game on a high note.
Blue Jays pitchers were brilliant on the mound as they did not show any loose play. They kept the White Sox hitters at bay and never received any big hits.
Starter Mark Buehrle pitched over six innings received two runs and nine hits. He also allowed two earned runs and struck out three White Sox batters on consistent 7.31 ERA.
“It was different seeing the Sox uniform in the batter's box, Usually it's behind me. It's weird rooting against those guys. I've rooted for them for 13 years and wanted them to win every game. This is the first game in I don't know how long that I'm actually
rooting against them," Buehrle said after the game about his latest outing against the team where he almost played many years of his career.
He added, "I tried not to take a look at too many guys stepping into the batter's box because I knew I'd start laughing or something bad would happen, I just tried to focus on the glove, which is not me. Usually I'm out looking around and having fun."
Not only Buehrle but the Blue Jays entire pitching lineup played brilliantly and kept the White Sox batters under pressure during the entire game.
Relief pitcher Aaron Loup pitched 0.2 innings and received one run and one hit. He allowed one earned run while he struck out one batter on 2.35 ERA.
On the other hand, the White Sox pitchers did not show their natural play and were hammered by extreme hitting from the Blue Jays batters.
Gavin Floyd started the game for the White Sox and received four runs and nine hits. He pitched 4.1 innings and struck out six. He received two homers and allowed four earned runs as well while his ERA went high at 6.32.
